Join me for a private plein air landscape workshop, where you'll enjoy a 4 + hour painting experience in various scenic locations in and around Chicago. Our sessions take place between 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., depending on the season and location, with travel distances up to a 2-hour radius from Chicago. These ongoing workshops are designed for one or two people who want to learn plein air painting throughout all seasons (weather permitting, no colder than 30 degrees).

During these workshops, I will guide you through the essentials of plein air painting, including color theory, composition, design, use of materials, safety, and more. I will paint alongside you, sharing insights from my 30 years of plein air painting experience across the U.S., Mexico, and Europe. I provide a giant folding easel, oil paint brushes, and mineral spirits. You'll need to bring your own paint (oil is recommended, but acrylic is also welcome), brushes, palette, and painting surface (canvas, panel, or paper), plus any other disposable items. I’m happy to recommend what to purchase, as I specialize in oils, oil pastels, oil bars/sticks, and acrylic paint.

To make your experience even more memorable, I’ll take photos and short videos of you painting, providing a keepsake of your plein air adventure.
